My first Grandchild
Since the time I was sixteen years old I hoped to someday give my children the gift of home education. I didn’t know a soul who did that sort of thing, but high school felt like such a waste of time. I knew that if I could have used my time to devote to the things I was most interested in I could have been far ahead in my life’s mission. With three of my eleven children now “graduated” it is evident that my early impressions were on target. My husband and I have seen our children develop their individual gifts, abilities and knowledge in ways that would have been very difficult without home education. They continually surprise us with the beautiful, strong and capable people they are becoming.
Our oldest daughter (22 yrs.) is married and graduated with honors from Brigham Young University (Provo) last spring after two years at LDSBC. She gave birth to our first grandchild in July, just five months after our eleventh child was born! Our second child (20 yrs.) is serving his mission in the Bacolod Philippines Mission but has already performed in a professional opera company and completed two years of college work.
My husband and I believe in a family life centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ with a balanced program of work, service and study. We currently live on ten acres in North Carolina with thirteen chickens, two dogs and four cats (all outdoors!)
